Welcome to Stuart Mesa Elementary

Dear Parents and Community Members,

On behalf of our school staff, I welcome you to Stuart Mesa Elementary School.  I am honored to be leading this extraordinary school with such a dynamic staff, resilient students, and supportive parents and community members.  We are excited to provide academic experiences that foster relationships through collaboration, perseverance, and a productive struggle.  We believe that through hard work and determination, a love of learning and resilience grows which is essential for great accomplishments.  This year the Bulldogs are getting gritty, and we welcome you to join us!

Stuart Mesa Elementary School is part of the Oceanside Unified School District, a K-12 district located in north San Diego county.  As one of twenty-three schools in the district, we offer a full academic program to approximately 600 students. Our district’s vision is that all students will graduate college and career ready, prepared to be responsible global citizens and ambitious future leaders.  Students are challenged and rewarded every day in this rich learning environment. In addition to the core subject areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, students at Stuart Mesa Elementary School have the opportunity to participate in music, PE, STEM, and Project Lead the Way.  Students have access to Chromebooks and iPads to support individualized learning through a wealth of digital curriculum.  Every day students are engaged in highly rigorous learning through technology, collaboration, inquiry, and project-based learning.

Families and community members are integral to our success at Stuart Mesa. Parents are welcome additions, and you will often see parents in classrooms engaged in meaningful work to enhance the education students are receiving.   Open communication with your child’s teacher is vital to ensure your student’s success throughout the year.  Parental involvement is one of the primary factors in a student’s success in school and there are many ways for you to participate in school.   Supporting your student with homework, inquiring about their day at school, encouraging your student to take risks, and engaging with them in their current novel study are some significant ways to be involved.  All parents are encouraged to get involved with various committees including our School Site Council (SSC) and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

We have the ambitious undertaking to prepare our students for a future none of us can fully predict, but it can be accomplished if we all work together as a learning community and keep our focus on doing what is best for students. Thank you to all our staff, parents, and community members who make each day meaningful for the students we serve.  Together, we are preparing our students to be leaders in the 21st century.
